Nigeria determined to eradicate poliomyeltis - Sambo
The Nigerian Vice President, Namadi Sambo says government is determination to ensure that the dreaded poliomyelitis disease is eradicated in Nigeria.
He said this during a courtesy visit by the World President of Rotary Club International, Mr. Sakuji Tanaka to his office.
The Vice President, who was delighted with the efforts made by the Club towards ensuring the total eradication of the disease in Nigeria, said that government would not relent until Nigeria was free from the deadly disease.
He commended the Club for this and other support services it has rendered including water supply and construction of schools for the benefit of mankind.
He further stated that, “the issue of polio will be treated on a continuous basis as all tiers of government shall continue to pursue action that will ensure the eradication of polio in Nigeria”.
In his remark, Mr. Tanaka commended the Nigerian Government for constituting a task force to deal with polio.
He said that the stringent measures taken by the Nigerian authorities are steps towards making the country Polio Free.
